In the Fourth Evening of the Sharjah Arabic Poetry Festival… Texts reaching Toward Distant Horizons, Poems Rich in Beauty and Celebrating Thought
In the Fourth Evening of the Sharjah Arabic Poetry Festival
Texts Reaching Toward Distant Horizons
Poems Rich in Beauty and Celebrating Thought
The House of Poetry in Sharjah hosted yesterday evening, Thursday, the fourth poetry night as part of the Sharjah Arabic Poetry Festival, in the presence of His Excellency Abdallah bin Mohammed Al Owais, Chairman of the Sharjah Department of Culture, and Mr. Mohammed Ibrahim Al Qaseer, Director of the Cultural Affairs Directorate at the Department of Culture, alongside a large audience eager for refined poetry, powerful diction, eloquence, and rhetorical mastery.
Six poets participated in the evening: Aref Al Saadi (Iraq), Amal Al Sahlawi (United Arab Emirates), Dr. Osama Taj Al-Sir (Sudan), Mohammad Khudair (Jordan), Dr. Hassan Abduh Samili (Saudi Arabia), and Ibrahim Abdul Karim (Chad). The evening was presented by Abdullah Abubakr (Jordan).
Aref Al Saadi was the first voice to take the stage. What most distinguishes this poet—radiant with abundant and flowing poetic creativity—is his ability to turn the text into a vehicle for philosophical visions and ideas that delve deeply into a range of existential questions. This is accompanied by a clear social dimension that openly aligns with ordinary people, addressing their concerns and articulating their lived struggles.
