Ruler of Sharjah Honors the Winners of the Al Qawafi Award 2025 

His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, honored the poets who won the Al Qawafi Award 2025 on Tuesday morning, at the Dr. Sultan Al Qasimi House.

This took place during His Highness’s reception of the participants and guests of the 22nd edition of the Sharjah Arab Poetry Festival, including writers, poets, and media professionals from across the Arab world, which officially opened on Monday evening.

His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah graciously honored the winning poets, each of whom recited their award-winning poem. The poems addressed a range of themes, including elegy, pride in the homeland, reflection on the self and nature, while some poets praised Sharjah as a radiant beacon in the sky of Arab culture and literature. At the conclusion of the ceremony, His Highness greeted the poets and attendees and received a number of special gifts from the poets, including poetry collections and various books.

The honored poets expressed their sincere gratitude and appreciation to His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah for his continued support of poets, writers, and creatives across all fields of culture and the arts, and for honoring them by selecting and publishing their poems as part of the distinguished record of the Al Qawafi Award.

Poet Hussein Al Abdullah from Syria recited his winning poem titled “If It Rained Gold,” followed by poet Ahmed Shalabi from the Arab Republic of Egypt with his poem “Standing in the Middle of the Dream,” and poet Rashid Issa from Jordan with “A Whisper from the Island of Light.” Noufal Al Saeedi from Morocco then recited “The Child of the City.”

Poet Omar Al Raji from Morocco presented “The Stranger of Al-Andalus,” poet Zakaria Mustafa from Sudan recited “A Rose for the Guardian of Meaning,” poet Hamza Al Youssef from Syria recited “Echo,” poet Abdullah Abdel Sabour from Egypt recited “To My Father’s Soul,” and poet Mohammed Saeed Al Ateeq from Syria recited “Virtues.” Poet Asmaa Al Hammadi from the UAE presented “Dawn Is Its Doctrine,” followed by Khaled Al Hassan from Iraq with “A Prayer in Al Noor Mosque.” The ceremony concluded with the winning poem “The Path of the Sun” by poet Shams Al Din Boukloua from Algeria.
