Five creative poets recited their poetry at the Cultural Palace
Notable turnout at the opening evening of the 22nd Sharjah Arabic Poetry Festival
As part of the 22nd edition of the Sharjah Arabic Poetry Festival, the Cultural Palace in Sharjah witnessed, on Monday, the launch of the first poetry evening. The event was attended by His Excellency Abdallah Mohammed Al Owais, Chairman of the Sharjah Department of Culture; Mohammed Ibrahim Al Qaseer, Director of the Directorate of Cultural Affairs ; and Mohammed Al Braiki, Director of the House of Poetry, alongside a large gathering of poets, critics, intellectuals, and lovers of Arabic poetry who filled the palace hall.
The evening was hosted by Iraqi poet Khalid Al Yasari, who welcomed the festival’s guests to the emirate and praised the efforts and initiatives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, as well as his generous support for culture and Arabic poetry—support that has yielded significant cultural achievements.
Five poets participated in the evening: Abdulwahed Omran from Yemen, Ahmed Al Fakhri from Libya, Mabrook Al Sayari from Tunisia, Salah Al Din Al Khaw from Mauritania, and Hanan Farfour from Lebanon.
