His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, has allocated financial support for the rehabilitation of the “Grand Beirut Theatre,” as part of the international campaign launched by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), aimed at restoring the historic theatre building in the Lebanese capital.

On behalf of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, His Excellency Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Owais, Chairman of the Department of Culture in Sharjah, attended the ceremony announcing Sharjah’s contribution to the rehabilitation of the “Grand Beirut Theatre.” The event was held in the Lebanese capital, in the presence of His Excellency Ghassan Salameh, Lebanese Minister of Culture; Audrey Azoulay, Director-General of UNESCO; Ibrahim Zeidan, Mayor of Beirut; and a large number of officials, intellectuals, and technical experts (engineers).

His Excellency Abdullah Al Owais delivered a speech in which he emphasized the importance of international efforts and cultural cooperation, saying: “We are pleased to gather today on this occasion, which embodies international efforts and cultural cooperation aimed at preserving Arab and global cultural heritage, supporting the continuation of cultural progress in all nations, uplifting individuals and societies, protecting future generations, and strengthening their roots for a better future filled with hope and ambition.”

He added about the Ruler of Sharjah’s support for culture, saying: “Therefore, His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, has been keen to launch such cultural initiatives and to extend cooperation with countries and international organizations. The past decades have witnessed fruitful collaboration between the Emirate of Sharjah and UNESCO through numerous awards and diverse cultural activities. This reflects the vision of the wise leadership in the United Arab Emirates to enrich the Arab and global cultural landscape.”

The Chairman of the Department of Culture conveyed the greetings of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, saying: “It is my honor, on this occasion, to convey to you the greetings of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, and his best wishes for your success and continued prosperity.”
