A Critical Seminar Discusses the Journey of the Honored Poets in "Sharjah for Nabati Poetry"
The critical seminar accompanying the Sharjah Nabati Poetry Festival discussed the journeys of the two honored Emirati poets in the 19th edition: Awad bin Rashid Al-Sabbah Al-Ketbi and Zaal bin Obaid bin Sarhan Al-Ghafli. The seminar featured two critical papers by researchers in Nabati poetry heritage, Dr. Fahad Al-Maamari and Dr. Ali Al-Abdan.
The seminar was held at the Cultural Palace in Sharjah, with the presence of His Excellency Abdullah bin Mohammed Al-Owais, Chairman of the Sharjah Department of Culture, Mr. Mohammed Ibrahim Al-Qaseer, Director of the Cultural Affairs Department, Butti Al-Mathloom, Director of the Al-Heera Literary Council, and a large number of poets, intellectuals, academics, and festival participants.
The two researchers traced the journeys of "Al-Ketbi" and "Al-Ghafli" from their beginnings to the present, shedding light on the most significant poetic milestones influenced by various traditional poetic schools.
The two critical papers explored the main themes of the honored poets and their diverse poetic purposes, which lean towards patriotism, love, wisdom, and contemplation on the human condition.
Dr. Fahad Al-Maamari began by discussing the background of poet Awad Al-Sabbah Al-Ketbi, pointing out that he was born in the city of Al-Ain, "rich in Bedouin culture and home to many of the prominent Nabati poets in the UAE." He noted that Awad Al-Sabbah is from the noble Bani Ketb tribe, which has produced many poets, continuing the legacy of poets who made significant contributions to Emirati Nabati poetry.
