Amman –
Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, the 22nd edition of the Sharjah Cultural Honouring Forum was launched in the Jordanian capital, Amman, celebrating four Jordanian literary figures:
Professor Dr. Mohammad Al-Bakheet (translator), Dr. Nabil Haddad (critic), Dr. Mahmoud Al-Shalabi (academic and critic), and poet Mohammad Samhan.

The forum reflects the directives of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah to honour literary figures who have contributed to contemporary Arab culture. This marks the fifth time the forum is held in Jordan, following previous editions that celebrated 16 Jordanian creatives.

The ceremony was held at the National Library Department in Amman, attended by H.E. Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Owais, Chairman of the Department of Culture in Sharjah; Mr. Mohammed Ibrahim Al Qaseer, Director of Cultural Affairs at the department; Advisor Hamad Al Matrooshi, Chargé d'affaires at the UAE Embassy in Jordan; Dr. Nidal Al-Ayasrah, Secretary General of the Jordanian Ministry of Culture; Dr. Orouba Al-Shamayleh, Director General of the National Library; and a large gathering of Jordanian and Arab writers, intellectuals, and culture enthusiasts.

The ceremony segments were hosted by Jordanian poet Iman Abdul Hadi, who highlighted Sharjah’s pioneering role in enriching the Arab cultural scene, describing the Emirate as a leading model of cultural development.

"Creativity and Contribution"
In his opening remarks, Abdullah Al Owais emphasized the joy and unity such gatherings bring, reinforcing Arab solidarity and cooperation. He pointed out that the forum serves as a platform to recognize cultural figures who have enriched the Arab literary scene with diverse creative output.

He expressed gratitude to the Jordanian Ministry of Culture for their continuous support and conveyed His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Al Qasimi’s congratulations to the honourees, commending their sincere efforts and valuable contributions.

"Creating Cultural Impact"
Dr. Nidal Al-Ayasrah welcomed guests, praising the cultural bond between Jordan and the UAE, and the forum’s role in recognizing Jordanian creatives. He described writers and poets as torchbearers of enlightenment whose works inspire future generations.

He affirmed that thanks to the Sharjah Ruler’s generous cultural vision, Arab literature and thought remain strong and capable of leading the path toward a renewed Arab civilization.

He praised Sharjah as a destination for intellectuals, calling it a gem of Arab culture, thanks to the tireless efforts of its ruler — a scholar, writer, and historian — and expressed appreciation for the Emirate’s vibrant cultural scene, which hosts daily literary and artistic events.

"Cultural Renaissance"
H.E. Hamad Al Matrooshi expressed pride in participating in the forum, acknowledging His Highness’s pivotal role in revitalizing cultural activity across the Arab world. He emphasized that Sharjah’s contributions are widely respected and have justly earned it the title of Capital of Arab Culture.

He also highlighted the strong and exemplary relations between the UAE and Jordan across all fields, calling the bond between both nations a model in international relations.

"A Civilized Initiative"
Speaking on behalf of the honourees, Professor Dr. Mohammad Al-Bakheet expressed deep appreciation for the recognition, describing it as a noble initiative led by the Ruler of Sharjah, especially meaningful in times of regional and global cultural challenges. He emphasized the need for creative initiatives to uplift cultural realities and thanked all organizers and the National Library for their role in preserving national memory.
