Sharjah – Bamako

Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, and organized by the Cultural Affairs Department of the Sharjah Department of Culture, the fourth Arab Poetry Forum concluded in the Malian capital, Bamako, with the participation of more than twenty poets from Mali, in a distinguished cultural and literary gathering.

The two-day forum was held in cooperation with the Al-Bayan Literary Association in Mali, as part of the Arab Poetry Forums in Africa initiative, which seeks to translate Sharjah’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the presence of Arab poetry in Africa and promote cultural exchange among nations.

The event was attended by Dr. Abdel Samad Maïga, President of the Al-Bayan Association, along with heads of local universities and institutes, students, and lovers and connoisseurs of Arabic poetry in Mali.

Organizers emphasized that this edition continues the success of previous ones, with a special focus this year on highlighting emerging poetic talents and honoring a number of literary figures and influential personalities in the local cultural scene.

In his opening speech, Dr. Abdelkader Idriss (Maïga), Coordinator of the Arab Poetry Forum in Mali, welcomed participants and attendees, praising Sharjah’s pioneering role in supporting Arab culture inside and outside Africa. He stressed that the forum has become an annual tradition eagerly awaited by lovers of Arabic poetry in Mali.
