Marrakech Makes History with Poems at the Closing of the Moroccan Poetry Festival
Participants: Sharjah’s Cultural Project Reflects an Integrated Vision of Its Ruler

The Moroccan Poetry Festival concluded its sixth edition, held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, and His Majesty King Mohammed VI of Morocco. Organized by the House of Poetry in Marrakech in collaboration with Sharjah’s Department of Culture and Morocco’s Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication, the festival spanned three days, featuring extensive participation from Moroccan poets, intellectuals, critics, and artists.
The closing ceremony was attended by His Excellency Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Owais, Chairman of the Department of Culture in Sharjah; Mr. Mohammed Ibrahim Al Qaseer, Director of Cultural Affairs at the department; Rashid Mustafa, Head of Cooperation at Morocco’s Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication (Cultural Sector); Dr. Abdeljalil Lakrifa, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at Shadi Ayyad University in Marrakech; Abdelhaq Meifrani, Director of the House of Poetry in Marrakech; along with numerous academics, students, and poetry enthusiasts.
Over three vibrant days, the festival opened its doors to creative voices from across Morocco, including cities such as Laayoune, Tarfaya, Guelmim, Taroudant, and the Souss-Massa region. During this period, Marrakech transformed into a hub for Moroccan creators, showcasing remarkable creative energy with contributions from over 30 poets, critics, and artists.
