The Kairouan Arabic Poetry Festival Concludes the Activities of Its Ninth Edition

Al-Owais: The Festival's Prominent Status in Tunisia and the Arab World Encourages New Joint Cultural Works

Participants: The Houses of Poetry are a Paradise for Arab Poets

Carthage, Tunisia

The Kairouan Arabic Poetry Festival could not have concluded its ninth edition without leaving behind creative imprints (Tunisian-Arabic), drawing inspiration from the power and beauty of the Arabic language, to create compositions that formed a flowing spring of imagery, scenes, and poetic recollections.

Thus, the city of Carthage in the Tunisian capital lived three days of creativity at the House of Wisdom, where the Kairouan House of Poetry closed the ninth chapter of the festival, amid the joy of the audience who accompanied the sessions with their remarkable literary taste.

The festival was held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, organized by the Sharjah Department of Culture in collaboration with the Tunisian Ministry of Cultural Affairs, with active and distinguished participation from poets, critics, and writers from Tunisia, Algeria, and Libya.

The closing ceremony, which took place at the House of Wisdom in Carthage, was attended by His Excellency Abdalla bin Mohammed Al-Owais, Head of the Sharjah Department of Culture; Mr. Mohammed Ibrahim Al-Qaseer, Director of Cultural Affairs at the department; poet Jamila Al-Majri, Director of the Kairouan House of Poetry; and a large gathering of poetry lovers.

In his closing speech, Abdullah Al-Owais expressed his gratitude to the Tunisian Ministry of Cultural Affairs, emphasizing that the renewed cultural gathering highlights the importance of the fraternal relations between the UAE and Tunisia. He pointed out that the festival’s significant status in both the Tunisian and Arab literary scenes encourages more joint cultural initiatives.

Al-Owais said: "The Kairouan House of Poetry strengthens cultural projects between the UAE and Tunisia and represents a crucial step forward towards new cultural horizons that confirm the long-standing cultural partnership between Sharjah and Tunisia, including the Sharjah Narrative Forum, the Sharjah Cultural Honoring Forum, and we are working to ensure more such events in the future."

He also renewed his thanks for the warm welcome and hospitality extended by Tunisia to Sharjah, and conveyed the greetings of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi to the festival participants.
