Arabic Poems Pulsating with Hope and Contemplating Life in Senegal
Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, the fourth edition of the Arab Poetry Forum was launched yesterday in the Republic of Senegal. The event is organized by the Cultural Affairs Department at the Sharjah Department of Culture, as part of the Arab Poetry Forums in Africa. The Senegal forum was held in collaboration with the Senegal Literary Club, with the participation of twenty poets, male and female, from different regions of the country.
This cultural event is a translation of the directives of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, which aim to support the Arabic language and strengthen the presence of Arab poetry on the African continent, serving as a bridge for cultural communication and a platform for discovering poetic talents and refining their creativity. The forum reflects Sharjah’s cultural vision, rooted in a deep belief in the importance of culture in building human beings and fostering bonds of human connection among peoples.
The forum was held at the Senegal Literary Club in the capital, Dakar, in the presence of H.E. Hamdan Al Naqbi, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Senegal, and Fadel Gueye, President of the Senegal Literary Club, along with representatives of Arab embassies, university and institute professors, students, and lovers and connoisseurs of Arabic poetry.
The event began with a speech by Mohamed El Hadi Sall, the General Cultural Coordinator of the forum, who expressed his gratitude for organizing this cultural gathering, praising the efforts of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah—“the man of culture” who has made Arabic a global project, open to others and unbound by geography.
