Visits the Calligraphy Square
As part of the activities of the 11th Sharjah Calligraphy Biennial, titled "Inscriptions," organized by the Cultural Affairs Department at the Sharjah Culture Department, a delegation of Omani students, led by Ms. Sundus Al-Shaibani, Coordinator of the Calligraphy and Ornamentation School in Fujairah, visited the Calligraphy Square - Centre for the Art of Arabic Calligraphy and Ornamentation this Sunday evening. The visit aimed to explore the visual arts related to Arabic calligraphy and to learn about the accompanying exhibitions of the biennial.
The delegation was received by Ms. Fatima Al-Zarooni, the General Exhibition Coordinator at the biennial, who guided the delegation during their tour and provided detailed explanations about the artworks on display, highlighting the importance of Islamic art and calligraphy in expressing Arab and Islamic culture. She also emphasized the biennial's role in supporting young artists and providing a platform for them to express their creativity.
In turn, Mr. Nasser Ahmed Al-Yassi, Vice President of the Emirates Society for Arabic Calligraphy and Ornamentation, provided an extensive explanation to the delegation about the artworks in the exhibition "Cherishing the UAE," discussing the artistic styles used and the techniques that blend traditional calligraphy with innovative forms, adding an exceptional aesthetic dimension.
