Poems on the Shores  of Exile and Nostalgia at the House of Poetry in Sharjah

The event was part of the Tuesday Forum, which celebrates poetry and creativity. The House of Poetry, under the Department of Culture in Sharjah, organized a poetry evening on Tuesday, September 17, featuring poets Yazan Eissa from Syria, Abubakar Al-Junaid Younis from Sudan, and Ali Mustafa Loun from Nigeria, with the presence of poet Mohammed Abdullah Al-Braiki, the director of the House. The evening was hosted by media figure Bashar Saqer, who welcomed the attendees, saying: "Welcome to an evening of the House of Poetry in the Emirate of Sharjah, a landmark inaugurated by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, a member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah. Our deep gratitude goes to him from intellectuals, poets, writers, and lovers for his contributions to the House of Poetry and to poets who speak the Arabic language, preserving the heritage of the nation and the Diwan of Arabs."

After the introduction, the evening's program commenced, weaving through the meadows of words and rivers of astonishment, carrying the hearts and emotions of the poets to the audience, who are accustomed to attending the House of Poetry sessions, allowing them to escape the monotony of life and indulge in joy and delight. The evening began with poet Yazan Eissa, who won second place in the Sharjah Award for Arab Creativity 2023 for his collection "Wings Trying to Understand the Wind.”

After narrating his life's journey and its ramifications in the first text, he expressed his attachment to it, holding onto the ember of dreams, even if that dream is an illusion.

As for poet Abubakar Al-Junaid Younis, he read about the homeland and its sufferings. He then read for the homeland, playing on the strings of emotion that possess him, the nostalgia that clings to him regarding the details of place and its impact on him. His beloved Layla was present with her river, but her presence is one that holds back connection.

Finally, Nigerian poet Ali Mustafa Loun concluded the poetry readings, soaring high with the audience in verses that captured the manifestations of the poet and his harmony with his spirit and life visions, painting poetic images that flow with musical rhythms, delving into questions and memories. In his poem "Returning to His First Image”

In his poem "Washed in Light," the poet evoked the life of the Prophet Mohammed (peace be upon him), collecting within his verses his virtues and attributes in a poetic fabric rich in sincerity, describing his longing for meeting him and his dedication to following in his footsteps.

At the end, Mr. Mohammed Abdullah Al-Braiki honored the participants of the evening.
