Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, the Mauritanian capital, Nouakchott, hosted the 28th edition of the Sharjah Cultural Honoring Forum, organized by the Sharjah Department of Culture in cooperation with the Mauritanian Ministry of Culture, Arts, Communication and Relations with Parliament, in celebration of distinguished creative figures and recognition of their intellectual and literary achievements.
The forum witnessed an official and cultural celebration honoring four distinguished Mauritanian literary figures whose contributions over several decades have enriched literature, culture, and knowledge, leaving a lasting impact on the Mauritanian and Arab cultural landscape. The honorees were Dr. Mohammed Al Mokhtar Ould Al Saad, Dr. Sidi Abdullah Zein Al Mahboubi, Dr. Mohammed Al Amin Al Hadrami, and Dr. Ahmed Ould Habiballah Ahmed, in recognition of their scholarly and literary achievements and their valuable contributions to enriching cultural life.
The forum is held in implementation of the directives of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah to honor distinguished literary figures who have contributed to contemporary Arab culture. This marks the forum's fifth visit to Mauritania, following the recognition of 16 Mauritanian creative figures during its previous editions.
The honoring ceremony was held at the Conference Palace in Nouakchott in the presence of Mohammed Ibrahim Al Qaseer, Director of the Directorate of Cultural Affairs at the Sharjah Department of Culture; His Excellency Hamad Ghanem Almheiri, UAE Ambassador to Mauritania; His Excellency Al Fadil Ould Sidati Ahmed, Minister of Islamic Affairs and Original Education, representing the Minister of Culture, Arts, Communication and Relations with Parliament of Mauritania; as well as a large gathering of Mauritanian intellectuals, academics, writers, and the families of the four honorees.
