Sharjah Celebrates the Winners of the Sharjah Award for Arab Creativity

Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, the honoring ceremony for the winners of the 28th edition of the Sharjah Award for Arab Creativity was launched on Monday morning, as part of the 28th Creative Workshop of the Sharjah Award for Arab Creativity (First Edition). The event, organized by the Department of Cultural Affairs at the Department of Culture in Sharjah, spans two days from April 14 to 15, 2025, with the participation of 470 individuals from various Arab countries, as well as African nations such as Nigeria and Mali.

Mr. Mohammed Ibrahim Al-Qaseer, Director of the Cultural Affairs Department and Secretary-General of the Award, said:
“We are pleased to gather today to celebrate a distinguished group of winners in the 28th edition of the Sharjah Award for Arab Creativity (First Edition). This reflects the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, in establishing this award based on a noble idea that believes in the importance of supporting creativity at its early stages. It also highlights Sharjah’s ongoing commitment to nurturing educated generations capable of expressing themselves and their communities’ issues through the language of literature, art, and knowledge.”

He added:
“Throughout the years, the award has established itself as a unique platform for discovering new literary talents, refining them, and introducing them to the Arab cultural scene. It is dedicated to Arab creators who have not previously published their work—a pioneering move in the Arab world that has made the award a milestone in the cultural landscape and a true contributor to the creative movement.”

Al-Qaseer emphasized that the award has become a shining beacon in the journey of contemporary Arabic literature and a vital pillar in supporting the cultural scene from the Atlantic to the Gulf. It has also become an important space that embraces writers and opens wide horizons for publishing their works and engaging in the Arab cultural scene.

He confirmed that His Highness’s directive to host the winners’ celebrations in various Arab countries highlights the importance of the Arab dimension embraced by Sharjah’s cultural project. The Arab Republic of Egypt was the first host outside the UAE in 2019. After several tours in various Arab capitals and cities, the award has now returned to Sharjah, with great joy in celebrating new creative talents.

He pointed out that this creative path reflects Sharjah’s ongoing commitment to supporting Arab creators. It provides a real opportunity to spotlight each creative talent from their very first steps and serves as a major occasion to honor Arab creativity in its most beautiful manifestations.

Al-Qaseer concluded his speech by saying:
“I am pleased, in this honorable ceremony, to extend my congratulations to the winners of the 28th edition of the Sharjah Award for Arab Creativity – First Edition. I am also honored to convey to you the greetings and best wishes of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, for your continued success.”
