Poets Sing of Love, Homeland, and Humanity

As part of the 21st edition of the Sharjah Arabic Poetry Festival, the fifth poetic evening took place at the Sharjah Cultural Palace. The poets, carrying their dreams and visions on their shoulders, were: Mohammed Ibrahim Yaqub (Saudi Arabia), Saad Mohammed (Iraq), Mohammed Arab Saleh (Egypt), Ahmed Sheikhna Kabad (Mauritania), Wakeel Al Hajj Abdel Salam (Niger), and Amal Al Sahlawi (UAE), with the evening being hosted by Sudanese journalist Ibtihal Treter.

The evening was attended by His Excellency Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Owais, Chairman of the Department of Culture in Sharjah, Mr. Mohammed Ibrahim Al Qaseer, Director of Cultural Affairs at the Department, poet Mohammed Al Braiki, Director of the House of Poetry, as well as a large audience of poets, intellectuals, and academics from the UAE and the Arab world.

The evening was opened by Saudi poet Mohammed Ibrahim Yaqoub, who captivated the audience with several poems that skillfully conveyed human and philosophical dimensions.
