Poems Pulsating with Life at the Nigeria Arab Poetry Forum

Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, and organized by the Cultural Affairs Department at the Sharjah Department of Culture, the Nigerian capital Abuja hosted the fourth Arab Poetry Forum, with the participation of 17 male and female poets.

The Arab Poetry Forums in Africa come as a realization of the directives of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, which aim to support and spread the Arabic language, strengthen the presence of Arab poetry in Africa, highlight the talents of eloquent Arabic poetry, and serve as a bridge of communication—within a comprehensive vision that elevates Arab culture and affirms its role in shaping humanity.

The forum was attended by Her Excellency Hannatu Musa Musawa, Minister of Arts, Culture, Tourism, and the Creative Economy in Nigeria; Prof. Mohammad Rabi Saad, Dean of the Faculty of Languages and Linguistics at Bayero University, Kano – Nigeria; Prof. Ahmed Rabih Abdulrahman, Head of the Arabic Language Department at Kaduna State University; Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Yaqouti, Representative and President of the Academic Society of the Arabic Language and Literature in Nigeria; along with a number of Arab ambassadors to Nigeria, university professors, institute representatives, and a large audience of lovers and admirers of Arabic poetry.

The forum began with a speech by the General Coordinator, Dr. Omar Adam Mohammad, who expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the efforts of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah and His Highness’s generous support, which had a great impact on the success of the forum. He also thanked the Cultural Affairs Department at the Sharjah Department of Culture for its efforts in supporting and enhancing this initiative.
