Tunisian Minister of Culture Appreciates Sharjah’s Cultural Efforts
Al-Owais: The Ruler of Sharjah is Committed to a Sustainable Cultural Approach

Her Excellency Ameena Al Serarfi, Tunisian Minister of Cultural Affairs, praised Sharjah's efforts in supporting culture and the arts at the Arab level under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah. She emphasized that the emirate’s vital role in encouraging creativity has the potential to stimulate excellence across all literary fields. She highlighted that Sharjah's cultural activation has enriched the creative scene in the Arab world through a series of continuous forums and festivals across various Arab cities and capitals, considering it a practical achievement added to Sharjah’s cultural and humanitarian accomplishments.

This came during a meeting between Minister Al Serarfi and His Excellency Abdullah bin Mohammad Al Owais, Chairman of the Department of Culture in Sharjah, and Mr. Mohammad Ibrahim Al Qaseer, Director of the Cultural Affairs Department at the Department of Culture in Sharjah, at the ministry’s headquarters in the capital, Tunis, marking the launch of the 20th edition of the Sharjah Narrative Forum.

Minister Al-Serarfi pointed out that the deep-rooted relationship between Tunisia and the UAE extends to close cooperation with Sharjah in the cultural project, affirming that Tunisia is pleased with these broad cultural partnerships and their profound impact on creativity at both local and Arab levels.

She also mentioned that Tunisia is celebrating with Sharjah the Sharjah Narrative Forum, which tours the Arab world from country to country and arrives in Tunisia for its 20th edition, aiming to offer deep analytical discussions on the latest developments in narrative forms and the new transformations that have occurred. She noted that Sharjah’s presence in Tunisia holds significant cultural importance.

The Tunisian Minister of Cultural Affairs expressed her affection for Sharjah and recalled her visit there nearly two decades ago with a female musical group. She highlighted the cultural and artistic work undertaken by Sharjah, emphasizing the importance of music as a "twin of poetry."

Abdullah Al Owais stated that Sharjah, under the guidance of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, always strives for a sustainable cultural approach with the institutions cooperating with Sharjah, ensuring diverse activities through dynamic and innovative cultural engagement. He added: "We are pleased to start the annual program of the Department of Culture from Tunisia with the Sharjah Narrative Forum. After the experience of the House of Poetry in Kairouan, we found Tunisia, as we know it, rich in cultural contributions, advancing cultural work towards new horizons. Cultural efforts have always been a vital part of the understanding and cooperation from the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, which opens doors to every initiative, idea, and project presented by Sharjah."

The two parties agreed to organize new cultural forums that include Arabic calligraphy and music, aiming to be a true supporter of creators and contribute to strengthening development in these important creative fields.

Al-Owais presented to Minister Al Serarfi the current September issue of “Shariqa Al Thaqafiyah” Magazine, published by the Department of Culture. He highlighted that the magazine celebrates Tunisia with its main cover featuring a picture of the city of "Sousse," a jewel of the Tunisian coast, in addition to a journalistic piece dedicated to the Tunisian writer Ali Douaji, titled "Abu al Qissah al TunisiyaAl Owais also provided a comprehensive explanation of the new issue's various cultural topics.
