Ruler of Sharjah Approves Budget for the 19th Theater Season
The Sharjah Department of Culture and the UAE Theatrical Association praised the generous support of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, for the 19th Theater Season, with an approved budget of AED 747,000. The season is scheduled to commence in October 2026 and reflects His Highness's vision and commitment to promoting sustainable cultural activity.
Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Owais, Chairman of the Sharjah Department of Culture, stated that theater and theater practitioners continue to receive both financial and moral support from His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, with the aim of establishing a strong theatrical foundation in Sharjah in particular and the UAE in general. Al Owais emphasized that this initiative is one of His Highness's many generous contributions supporting various cultural fields. He added that this support has ensured the continuity of theatrical activity through the efforts of artists, creative talents, and participating theater groups whose productions continue to attract significant public interest and meet audience expectations. This has encouraged theater companies to carefully select high-quality scripts and further develop the skills of actors and technical crews, contributing to the advancement of the UAE theater movement and enabling Emirati theater groups to receive awards and honors at festivals in numerous countries.
For his part, Ismail Abdullah, Chairman of the UAE Theatrical Association, expressed his appreciation for the continued support of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, affirming that the Association is committed to using this support to strengthen the role of theater in society through carefully selected and distinguished productions. He noted that this has fostered ongoing engagement between the season's performances and audiences, who continue to attend and actively interact with the productions.
