Sharjah —

Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, the new edition of the Arabic Poetry Forums in Africa was launched. On Wednesday, the Republic of Chad hosted the fourth edition of the Arabic Poetry Forum in the capital, N'Djamena. The two-day event was organized by the Cultural Affairs Department of the Sharjah Department of Culture in collaboration with the Literary Club in Chad, with the participation of 40 male and female poets from across the country.

The Arabic Poetry Forums in Africa are held in line with the directives of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, who has called for the support of the Arabic language and the promotion of Arabic poetry across Africa. These forums serve as a means of cultural awareness, a bridge for communication, and a platform to highlight poetic talent throughout the continent, within a comprehensive vision aimed at advancing Arab culture and reinforcing its role in human development.

The forum's opening ceremony was attended by H.E. Rashid bin Saeed Al Shamsi, UAE Ambassador to Chad; H.E. Minister Saleh Gouma Gouda, Deputy Secretary-General of the Chadian Government; the Minister in charge of Bilingualism in Chad; the Vice President of King Faisal University; along with representatives of Arab embassies, university professors, students, and lovers of Arabic poetry.

The forum was introduced by Dr. Ahmed Abu Al-Fath Othman, Cultural Coordinator in Chad, who emphasized that the fourth edition aimed to include all regions of Chad, making it a national platform for poetry lovers and a bridge connecting north and south, professionals and emerging talents alike.

Dr. Abu Al-Fath pointed out that this year’s forum features 40 poets from various parts of the country, creating a rich poetic scene that reflects the cultural diversity and depth of Chadian literary heritage.

The forum’s General Coordinator extended his heartfelt gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, for his unwavering support of creatives and poets in Africa and the Arab world, as well as for his sponsorship of this event and his efforts in preserving the Arabic language.

In closing, the organizers expressed appreciation to all contributors to the forum's success, including cultural and academic partners and supporting institutions—foremost among them the Sharjah Department of Culture, the Chadian Literary Club, and King Faisal University, as well as the poets and lovers of Arabic verse in attendance.
