A Critical Seminar Discusses the Journey of the Honoured Poets at the Sharjah Nabati Poetry Festival
As part of the accompanying cultural programme of the Sharjah Nabati Poetry Festival in its 20th edition, a critical seminar was held examining the careers and poetic experiences of the Emirati poets honoured in this edition: Saeed bin Salem Boulahaj Al Rumaithi and Ali bin Juma’a Al Suwaidi (Al Ghannami).
The seminar featured two research papers presented by researchers Dr. Fahad Al Maamari and Ali Al Abdan Al Shamsi.
The seminar took place at the Cultural Palace, and was attended by Butti Al Madhloum, Director of Al Heera Literary Council, along with a number of poets, critics, and researchers.
Through the two critical papers, light was shed on the artistic and aesthetic features of the poets’ experiences, as well as their contributions to the Emirati poetic landscape.
The seminar comes within the framework of the Sharjah Popular Poetry Festival’s commitment—held under the generous patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah—to honour pioneers of Nabati poetry in the UAE, celebrate their creative journeys, and document their achievements as an integral part of the national cultural memory.
In his research paper, Dr. Fahad Al Maamari began by outlining the biography of Emirati poet Saeed bin Salem Boulahaj Al Rumaithi, one of the most prominent poets of the “golden generation” of the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s.
