The Sharjah Award for Arabic Poetry Criticism Announces the Title of its Fifth Edition
Al-Qaseer: The Vision of the Ruler of Sharjah Strengthened the Presence of Poetry Criticism in the Arab World
The General Secretariat of the Sharjah Award for Arabic Poetry Criticism has chosen "Cultural and Artistic Patterns in Contemporary Arabic Poetry" as the title for the fifth edition of the award. The award is held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, and is organized by the Department of Cultural Affairs at the Sharjah Department of Culture.
This was announced during a meeting held by the General Secretariat at the Department of Culture to select the title for the new edition and to open the door for participation in the award's theme for writers, critics, and those interested in Arabic poetry criticism, in accordance with the award’s conditions and regulations.
Mr. Mohammed Ibrahim Al-Qaseer, Director of the Department of Cultural Affairs at the Sharjah Department of Culture and Secretary-General of the Sharjah Award for Arabic Poetry Criticism, stated that the cultural vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, has reinforced the presence of poetry criticism in the Arab world. He added, "Thus, the award moves toward a new and renewed edition with a remarkable critical theme, continuing what it began in establishing a cultural scene that places Arabic poetry under the scrutiny of Arab critics, to examine and reflect on what happens to the Arabic poem." He also emphasized that the award is establishing a specialized critical library given the volume of submissions it receives in successive editions.
