The Sharjah Calligraphy Biennial Attracts Nearly 30k Visitors at the Conclusion of its 11th Edition

 

The Sharjah Calligraphy Biennial concluded yesterday, marking the end of the 11th edition of "Inscriptions," which was held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah. The event took place from October 2 to November 30 across various regions of Sharjah, organized by the Department of Cultural Affairs in the Sharjah Department of Culture. The 11th edition recorded a new milestone in the number of visitors, with over 30,000 attendees from different nationalities, who came to view more than 600 artworks by 260 artists from various countries. The event featured 94 activities, including exhibitions, workshops, lectures, and seminars, hosted by the Department of Culture in collaboration with over 30 local and international organizations in Sharjah. The biennial also saw visits from international delegations, such as the delegation from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, headed by Professor Gao Xiang, the Academy’s President, as well as local and Arab delegations, including a group of university students from Oman, a delegation from Sharjah Police, a delegation from the United Arab Emirates University, a group of students from the Calligraphy and Decoration School in Fujairah, a delegation from Al Ansar National School, and a delegation from the "Sharjah Children" Foundation.
