Sharjah Folklore Poetry Forum

In the aim of reviving the ancestral heritage, and ensure the young generation appreciate and understand the history of the culture in the country, Department of Culture created Sharjah Folklore Poetry Festival over thirteen years ago to honour the pioneers in the art of poetry. Not long ago, the sung poems and the traditional proses were heard in gatherings of men and women, as a way to celebrate the daily life.

The festival also is a sincere attempt to present this ancient form of poetry as a way of life in the UAE, and it is a way to gather poets from the UAE, Gulf, and Arab countries, who still dwell on this form and share their poetry with the public and poetry enthusiasts.
