Sharjah’s Islamic Art Festival is now open

15 Dec, 2019

This year’s festival, organised by the Sharjah Department of Culture, is themed ‘prospect’ and will run from December 11 until January 21, 2020.

There are 31 exhibitions, containing sculptures, calligraphies and other Islamic art, in the Sharjah Art Museum.

According to the organisers, it “prompts contemplation and venturing on a journey towards visual realms that exist beyond the limits of space. It is about admiring beauty while being blindfolded. It is the practice of imagination that can invoke the absent beautiful and undiscovered realms”.

The festival has 253 events, exhibitions, workshops, lectures and mutual, and more than 100 artists are taking part from 31 countries across the globe.

The Islamic Art Festival was inaugurated by H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah on December 11.
